Dublin, Ireland, 3 June 2019Sysnet Global Solutions, the leading provider of cybersecurity and compliance solutions, has been crowned Ireland’s most ‘Innovative Family Business’ at the inaugural Energia Family Business Awards. The ceremony – the first of its kind to honour family-run organisations across Ireland – took place on 24th May at Dublin’s prestigious Mansion House. The awards are dedicated to showcasing the success and impact of Irish family businesses both in their local community, nationally, and globally.

Sysnet was awarded the prize for its best-in-class managed PCI compliance solution, Proactive Data Security (PDS), which is revolutionising the way small and medium-sized businesses meet payments standards across the globe. Established in 1989 by the CEO’s father, Tom Moynagh, the business was passed to his son, Gabriel, in 2012, with the extended family working at all levels of the business. Over the years, Sysnet has built a reputation for helping clients to achieve compliance requirements and secure their business in a cost-effective manner.

The Dublin-based cybersecurity company has grown considerably over the last five years, now boasting over two million customers globally.

This is not the only success the business enjoyed at the Family Business Awards – it was also honoured with a Silver award in the ‘Tech Family Business of the Year’, while it sponsored the ‘Best Small Family Business of the Year’ category. These accolades follow a strong start to the 2019 award season for Sysnet, in April the business secured a Florin Award win for ‘Best RegTech Provider’ and a further ‘PCI Europe Award’ in January.

Speaking on this year’s success, Sysnet’s CEO, Gabriel Moynagh, remarked: “It’s excellent to be recognised for the solutions we’ve been building  over the last decade. We’re proud to see our business thriving and being recognised for the contributions we’re making to the industry.

“We hope to continue our winning streak going forward and endeavour to deliver solutions which fit the needs of the businesses we are serving.”

The Family Business Awards celebrate the efforts of family-run organisations in shaping the Irish economy. They recognise businesses across the island of all shapes and sizes. Sysnet fought off competition from over 200 enterprises to be crowned alongside 17 other worthy winners. The awards saw a range of businesses from various sectors, demonstrating the diversity of Irish family-run organisations.

Judges this year included JJ O’Connell, National Director and Co-Chair of Family Business Ireland, Mark Christal, Manager of the Regions and Entrepreneurship division Enterprise Ireland and Glyn Roberts, CEO of Retail NI among others.

Commenting on the winners, Katherine O’Riordan, Event Director said: “We are thrilled at the outstanding first year we’ve had with the Energia Family Business Awards. All our finalists are busy reshaping the Irish business landscape and some extremely tough decisions had to be made. Everyone who entered the awards should be extremely proud of all the hard work and passion that goes into operating an Irish family business.”
